An October Overture
Muhahahah! October 29th was the IKE annual Halloween concert. An October Overture featured a combined group of IKE's advanced music programs, including Choir, Orchestra, and Jazz Band. Together, these Talented groups put on a spooky and spectacular show that brought the Halloween spirit to life!
Directed by Tim Rooney, Olivia Lenoue, and Chloe Pierce. The concert was a true collaboration between the vocal and instrumental programs. The music ranged from Beetlejuice, The Wizard of Oz, Glee, Harry Potter, and more! The night also featured the highly anticipated costume contest, where everyone gave it their all for gift cards and prizes! The crowd cheered as the winners were announced. First place went to the cute Care Bear, 2nd went to a taco, and placing 3rd was a shark.
Let's talk to the IKE Choir Secretary, Ila Molnar,
I asked her, “What was your favorite song that was played tonight?” Her answer was, “My favorite was I put a spell on you, because it was the most fun to learn/sing.” I also asked her, “What was the rehearsal process like ?” “For me, it was a lot of showing up a locking in, and just having fun with the music.”
Tonight performers have been working since the first month of school to bring us some spooky great music. 6th period chamber Orchestra started the night off right with “Overture to Die Fledermaus (the bat)”, up next was 5th period chamber choir with a Halloween classic “I put a spell on you” from Hocus Pocus, back to Orchestra for Beetlejuice, tonight's next performers were 6th period Lancers “Bewitched” and “ Nightmare Before Christmas” then Orchestra had us travel over the rainbow with “ Wizard of Oz” with the night all mos0t at its end choir sang “In Noctem” and finally to end the night a group performance of “Survivor/I will Survive”, This closer was powerful, energetic, and the perfect way to wrap up the evening.
Overall, the concert was filled with laughter, chills, and applause. Between the incredible music and the festive Halloween fun, it was a night that showcased both talent and creativity; a hauntingly good time for everyone
