IKE Tennis Update
On April 24th, The Eisenhower Tennis team came together to earn a near victory against Davis. With many close calls, third sets, and tie breakers, matches lasted anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours.
The number 1 doubles team, Emily Lombness and Loula Halfmoon, competed in one of the most intense matches of the day. After winning the first set 6-4, they dropped the second set 2-6. They then completed a third set hoping to tie break this 1-1 but remained neck-and-neck, eventually reaching a 6-6 tie. In the final tiebreaker, they pushed past the tension and won 7-6. Teammates, family, and friends lined the courts to watch this amazingly entertaining match.
Another intense match was between our number 2 doubles team, Tatianna Ochoa and Joselyn Mejia. After a tough start losing the first set 0-6, they bounced back to win the second set 6-4. Maintaining that energy, they ended the 2 hour match with a 6-3 victory.
Even with the team's overall success, there were also some challenging matches. Number 1 singles player Addie Gutheridge played against a state-level player and unfortunately lost 4-6, 2-6. However this provided motivation for her to continue improving her already great skills and win in Districts and State.
Number 2 singles Annalee Velasquez also had a challenging match herself losing 1-6, winning the second set 6-2, and ultimately losing 2-6 in the third.
Overall, the Eisenhower Tennis team showed great determination, resilience, and strong teamwork in a near victory against our rivals
