Bohemian Rhapsody
Bohemian Rhapsody, a masterpiece released in 2018, starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the British rock band, Queen. Along with Ben Hardy as the drummer, Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee as the guitarist, Brian May, and Joseph Mazzello as the bassist, John Deacon.
Queen is a British rock band that rose to prominence in 1975 when their single “Bohemian Rhapsody” was released. The song itself is unique because it draws on many rock genres and also opera, setting it apart from other rock songs at the time and currently. Queen has many songs and albums that are total bangers, known everywhere!
The movie captures the challenges the band faced in their lives from before they formed the band and after their last iconic performance at Live Aid. The movie takes place in England, where they all met. Along with capturing Freddie Mercury’s real origin, which was from Zanzibar, his birth name was Farrokh Bulsara. How he met his first love Mary Austin, found out he was gay, how one of the men he liked whose name is Paul basically manipulated him and broke up queen and lost his best friends for a short period of time, and eventually his redemption path of listening to Mary-to lose Paul, falling for a new, great guy named Jim, restored his friendship with the band, and finding out he had AIDS during his pathway of redemption.
Personally, I highly recommend watching the Bohemian Rhapsody Movie, which was newly added to Netflix! The movie is a heartfelt drama, full of love and loss, the infliction of others, and, obviously, a great soundtrack!
