Wicked for Good
If you are anything like me you’ve been waiting for "WICKED For Good” since you left the theater last year. But if you somehow got hit with a flying house and lost your memory of the past few years, let's catch you up. The hit Broadway musical WICKED serves as a backstory to The Wizard of Oz; however, the story of WICKED is based on a novel by Gregory Maguire that takes a creative spin on the OG book series by L. Frank Baum.
The story of Wicked, at its core, is an allegory for how politicians can use propaganda to control the narrative that uplifts them and makes "their enemies” look bad. Wicked also shows that love and friendship create a balance in life. WICKED for Good takes place some years after Wicked, with its main setting being the Emerald City.
This movie also brings something new to the story with two new songs “No place like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble” in the movie’s cast album it also includes the song “ The Wicked Witch of the East” this song is in the broadway show but is not in the album, the addition new songs really makes the movie stand out and made the story its own.
Overall, WICKED For Good was a stunning story that has captured the hearts of the world, with its powerful and beautiful visuals, and by the performances from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, this movie proved that movie musicals CAN BE REALLY GOOD! Whether you're a longtime fan or someone who was forced to watch it with your friends, Wicked delivers a heartwarming yet a bit sad story that has seriously made me cry every time I listen to the album.
