HOCO. 2027

Homecoming was a great way to kick off our 2026-2027 school year! Every moment is memorable, and homecoming is one everyone remembers. The DJ, the lights, the decorations — it’s always something to look forward to. Our homecoming theme this year was Paradise Sunsets, and it was a great success. Our commons was decorated like a tropical getaway, thanks to leadership.

The week began with our spirit days and ended with the Football game against Lake City, whose theme was Round-Up. Saturday the 12th was our Homecoming Dance, where students had to dress to impress and spend hours getting ready. Throughout the night, the school offered Red Bulls for purchase and cookies and water for free. You were able to purchase photos, and the dance floor was open till 11pm.

A lot of students chose not to go to Homecoming this weekend, especially seniors, but why? A lot of seniors expressed feeling as if it was almost rigging the system to make them pay $25 for their last year of high school on a single ticket, plus expenses for dresses and suits, makeup, nails, and hair. Was it worth spending that money? Is it going to be different for prom this year as well? Will students have to pay more to go to prom?

The amazing thing about students not going to Homecoming is that they didn’t have to miss out on the fun; they were still able to participate in the other activities throughout the week, and seniors won’t have to miss out on anything.
