Scholarship Bulletin

If you are a sophomore or freshman, then you likely think of scholarships as something reserved for upperclassmen. But the truth is, you can earn scholarships no matter your grade. If you check your email for the scholarship bulletin sent out regularly by Mrs. Acosta, you will find a Google spreadsheet of available scholarships labeled by grade, amount, and title. Links to apply to the scholarships are also provided in the bulletin.

Many people think of scholarships as hard to get. Something either for the top-of-the-class valedictorians or D1 athletes planning to play sports in college. However, you can earn a scholarship for pretty much anything. For example, being from a low-income household, the first in your family to attend college, or even just writing a good response to a given prompt. Such as, the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship, which is open to all grades and due October 31st. There are many scholarships that take less than ten minutes to apply for.

You don't only have to rely on the Scholarship Bulletin; many websites post scholarships regularly. Sites include ScholarshipOwl, Scholarships.com, and the College Board. Scholarships may also be available through certain clubs, like FCCLA, DECA, and the National Honor Society. You can also schedule an appointment with your counselor to discuss available scholarships
