Mr. IKE 2026 Contestants and Coordinators

     You have most likely seen or heard about Mr. IKE, but what exactly is it? “Mr. IKE is a student- organized philanthropy project to raise awareness and funds for children in our community with special health care needs. 10 guys and 10 girls meet up to raise funds individually, at events in the community, and by putting on a pageant.” - Mrs. Bonds.

     I later asked Mrs. Bonds how it helps our community; “The funds are  donated to the Memorial Foundation, which supports Children’s village and the NICU at Memorial Hospital. Since the fund stays local, students see the positive effects of their efforts and walk away knowing they can make a difference in their hometown. Mr. IKE students meet many people and business leaders in the valley. Our community sees what wonderful students we have here at IKE! Within our building, Mr. IKE partners with Miracle Cadet, a student in IKE’s Special Education department. Building a relationship with this student (and often their family) inspires Mr. IKE’s fundraising efforts. Mr. IKE wants to be a part of continuing to build a school culture of inclusivity and kindness for all students.”
     Mr. IKE coordinators; Zabella Hickenbottom who's a Senior and Luz Leyva who's a Junior. Gave us an inside of what we can expect this upcoming school year. “We are planning to fundraise a ton this year! We do a lot of in school events like our “Dash for Cash” and our Mr. IKE vs Staff Basketball Game, as well as out of school events like restaurant takeovers and our volleyball tournament!” This will be Zabella’s 2nd year doing Mr. IKE, on the other hand, this is Luz’s first year doing it. She stated “I'm excited for all the new memories I'll be making, My partner is Noe, I'm super excited to get to know him and have fun!” 

     We as a school are ecstatic to see Mr. IKE fundraise and help our community, we hope they know how much we appreciate their work and kindness.
