YV-Tech
Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center, or more commonly known as YV-Tech, is a program offered to Juniors and Seniors. In this program, you have the opportunity to gain learning and working experience in Pre-Med, nursing, cosmetology, culinary arts, teaching, law enforcement, physical therapy, media production, business, computer technology, fire academy, electricity, construction, dental, and welding.
At the end of your sophomore and junior years, you have an opportunity to join and participate in the following school year. This is done via email, via a Google Forms link sent to you in late January to early February. In this program, you are gaining hands-on experience through learning and work. You will be able to be off campus for half the day (which most students appreciate because it gets them away from their regular school day).
In this program, you can also participate in leadership and gain job experience at a cafe called Java-Tech, if you choose. There is also a gym at the facility available to students participating in the physical therapy, law enforcement, fire academy, and construction programs. You can also become certified in any of the listed career choices, as well as receive college credits and even some high school credits, as specified for each program.
All in all, this program needs more dedicated students who want to improve their education. If you are looking for a good beginning to your career, YV-Tech can be a great place to start!
