Girls Soccer
As the Girls’ varsity soccer season continues and Ike’s starters claim their spots, the team has high hopes of returning to the state tournament.
I got the opportunity to interview starting junior, Elsie Hopkins, a Left back. When asked, “How would you describe your team’s season so far?” she replie,d “So far we’re 3-0 for preseaso,n so it’s going wel,l but we still have things to work on.” The girls are hard at work every day on the field, and the results are showing up on game day. Her favorite moment so far from this season was the game against Toppenish, when two freshmen scored their first goals in their high school career. Hopkins also said that the team’s strengths consist of great team chemistry and talent that is able to move the ball extremely well.
Although they have faced some challenges, like keeping consistency, the team continues to overcome them by putting away goals. Going forward into the season, she said their goals are to “become league champs, district champs, and make it to state.” We wish the girls luck as they move forward!
