Our Last Ride

Girls Soccer is here, for some it's their first year, but for two it's their last. Laurel Downes who plays Midfield and Rosa Martinez who plays Goalkeeper on the field are experiencing their last of this season. Downes and Martinez have been a staple and very important to this team. As their journey is coming to an end, they look back at their journey, cherish the moments, and reflect. When asked:

What was your favorite memory of all 4 years?

Laurel replied; The journey to state, winning all 3 games that were away. Those memories are unforgettable.” Rosa; “Meeting my best friend Rosemary during tryouts, as I still hang out with her every chance we get.”

What are you going to miss the most?

Laurel; “I am going to miss the bus rides, late night games, team bonding, and just playing soccer in general.” Rosa replied; “ I'm going to miss the fun practices we have when Coach Noe is in a good mood. Definitely away games, whether we win or lose, the girls always seem to make it fun.”

What was your favorite accomplishment?

Laurel; Having DOUBLE knee surgery and coming back playing stronger!” Rosa; “The fact that I had the opportunity to even be on the team in the first place.”

How are you feeling this being your last year?

Laurel; “At first It didn't feel real it was my last season, but after making my senior speech and having senior day it's feeling more real and I am sad to leave this team.” Rosa; “It's exciting since I get to cherish the moments with my team but also melancholy, I know I won't be playing soccer after school, I’m going to miss everything.”

We wish these girls nothing but the best in their futures, these girls are going to be missed next year. We can’t wait to see what this team will be like in the future without them.
