Environmental Club
Have you ever been so bored after school that you feel like there’s nothing you could do? Well, lucky for you, Eisenhower has a total of 49 clubs and all are welcoming new cadets to join! I’ll be interviewing one of the officers from the Environmental Club. Tatianna Ochoa
What does the environmental club do?
The club is dedicated to spreading awareness in a fun and positive way. “We love to volunteer in every way possible, which allows us to build connections not only with our club members but with our community.” They fundraise, organize outings, and go out to help spread the word about what we can do to support our community.
What’s the main goal for this club?
A primary goal of this club is to connect students with one another and create a platform to continue spreading awareness. “Our group is very welcoming of everyone and wants to encourage new people to join; with more people, there comes more awareness.” Being able to help our community grow and care for what’s going on around us does matter. Having more people spread the word and build a bigger impact to change something for the better.
What’s one reason why people should join the club?
Now you’re thinking, why should you join Eisenhower’s environmental club or any club? Being in any club helps you get out of your comfort zone and meet new people. For instance, in the environmental club, you get to do more than just spread awareness. They have fun outings, meet new people, build stronger connections with organizations outside of school, earn volunteer hours, and gain even more benefits. It’s a new adventure at every meeting. They have days where all they do is make bracelets to sell. There’s so much to do and contribute. They help give back to the community and nature.
Favorite memory with the club?
A favorite memory Tati has had with this club was throwing a surprise party for their advisor, Mr. McGregor. “It was amazing seeing all of our group coming together and participating in celebrating someone who makes our club a million times better.” It’s fantastic to hear and see the good memories one can build by joining and contributing to a club. You could make new connections, learn new things, and even discover more about yourself.
How do you feel about this upcoming year?
This upcoming year for the environmental club is going to be exciting. They have planned to do more and spread awareness not just to our community but to students in our school! “I really hope to leave Eisenhower knowing more about the community and what we can do better.”
Being part of something that contributes to the good not only makes you feel good but also benefits many others. If you want to make a difference in our community, come join the environmental club every Wednesday after school. They’re accepting of everyone and anyone’s ideas.
